Today is a very exciting day for Warwick as it has been announced that he is one of three very lucky recipients of the David Randall Foundation’s Inspirational Awards for 2019. The David Randall Foundation, set up in honour of talented sportsman and musician David Randall, provides Good Days for people with life limiting illnesses and scholarships to those who show dedication in either music or sport. Warwick is so grateful to have been awarded one of the Inspirational Awards for 2019 and would like to thank the trustees of the charity for choosing to support him in chasing his triathlon dreams this year.  We will be sharing Warwick’s progress on this blog for the Charity’s supporters to keep updated on how their fundraising is making a difference. As a long distance couple this week was of course going to be a difficult one to navigate but come Valentine’s Day evening Warwick and Jodie were found in familiar locations. Jodie tucked up at home with a book whilst Warwick swam repeatedly up and down the same 25m in a pool over 70 miles away from her. This was the agreed arrangement but it still reminded us that it’s not easy balancing a relationship, full time jobs and training; there’ll always be difficulties. Rough Terrain Run in Aid of St Michael’s Hospice 10-02-2019 This Sunday we attended the Rough Terrain Run in aid of St Michael’s Hospice, a Sussex based charity providing palliative care and bereavement support across Hastings and Rother. Warwick didn’t run this one through fear of injuring himself before the triathlon season, so I took on the mud with my mum who began running last summer. Warwick did, however, provide support by keeping my post-run clothes warm, taking photos and standing around in the cold whilst we were out having fun – at least he had a good laugh watching me attempt the warm-up! The event began with a motivational warm-up involving star jumps, squats, and touching various body parts to the muddy ground to ensure we were ready to tackle the next 5km. Warwick during his ECG As February is Heart Month we thought we’d share our experience of attending a Cardiac Screening event hosted by CRY and very kindly funded by Tonbridge Angels Football Club back in January.   According to the information provided by CRY ( www.c-r-y.org.uk ),   in 80% of cases of young sudden cardiac death there are no prior symptoms of a heart defect, which is why they provide free and subsidised screening to young people aged between 14 and 35 who are unable to access these services on the NHS.  The event was easy to book online and a handy text reminder was sent prior to the event to remind us of our appointment time and the need to bring our consent forms along to make the process run smoothly at the venue.  On arriving at the venue we were welcomed by a lovely lady at the desk who checked us in and ensured that nothing had changed since we filled in our medical questionnaires.   She then explained the process and directed...
